I've been to a marvellous party
Want to keep up with the Jones' in the musical stakes? Well you could do a lot worse than investing in the new single from West London three piece The Lights, the brainchild of former Monoman leader Matthew Lester.
"Good As It Gets" is sure to go down well with the Islington dinner party set recalling both the laid back electronic musings of Zero 7 and perhaps more surprisingly the pristine pop of the long forgotten Dubstar. Over a wash of atmospheric synths, gently plucked guitars and nuanced electronic percussion dual vocalists Imogen Andrews and Ryan Caine make an admirable attempt to pull "Good As It Gets" from veering into worrying M.O.R. territory. The fact that in the main they succeed bodes well for forthcoming debut album "Grand Union" which also features the XFM play-listed "No Conditions". Whether this is enough to knock Morcheeba, Royksopp, Air et al. from the top of the (coffee) table is highly debatable though.
