Its not new...but it is clever.

With a sound that owes a sizeable debt to 1980's indie, the Decoration jingle and jangle into the New Year with 'Pine.'

That quietly muted guitar picking and background hum is so welcoming and reminiscent of past glories that the song immediately feels as though it's been in your collection for years. In fact, you may want to check any House Of Love albums just to make sure that 'Pine' is a new song. Then again, with Pat Collier on productions, perhaps this is too obvious to mention but its a good combination that works well.

Its not immediately catchy but it moves at a fair pace and the handclaps are spot on.

All three tracks contain wordy, storytelling and deadpan vocals over a sprightly light backing which whilst being nothing new, offers a good alternative to some of the stodgy Britpop rehashing fare that guitar bands are serving up nowadays.

'I Just Froze' is a lively affair, more immediate than the lead track, with its opening riff carrying an air of energy and optimism that carries on throughout the song.

With their debut album 'Don't Disappoint Me' recently being released, this single is a good introduction to Decoration and if you yearn for the days when indie bands were cleverer than most, this release might be custom made for you.
