Pionnering metalcore from Europe.
In terms of metalcore acts it has been mainly American acts dominating the scene. Gradually a franchise of European acts has been cropping up into the public spotlight, Fear My Thoughts being one of them. The Great Collapse is the band's debut on the infamous Lifeforce Records, home to Heaven Shall Burn and Caliban.
With the genre of modern metal, the music takes direction from every scene. Fear My Thoughts are no exception.
The title track is crushing thrash metal with intense death metal/screamo vocals and hardcore intensity shifting many gears without letting up on the riffage from guitarists Markus Ruf and Patrick Hagmann. "Hollow Inside" is another showcase of the guitarists talent with a well-utilised crescendo of vocal chaos from singer Mathias Ocki
The Great Collapse is an intense record with the band unashamedly showing off their influences of European metal to the full. Fear My Thoughts have managed to take a popular genre of metal and added another dimension to it.
A powerful record from a band we will probably be hearing more from soon.
