Please please please, not more guitar led indie rock!
Sweden have produced a number of great bands and it's a fair comment that they are the top Scandinavian musical country. Bands like the poppy 60's throwbacks The Cardigans, the sleazy rock of Hardcore Superstar and the quite fabulous Backyard Babies, the experimental craziness of Quit Your Day Job to the love 'em or hate 'em catchiness that is the Abba legend - but what of Shout Out Louds? Well they have been keeping a firm eye on the British music scene with their guitar led rock that falls into the bulging genre of artists such as Maximo Park, Arctic Monkeys, Hard-Fi, Franz Ferdinand etc.
Taken in the context that this band is aiming for, 'Please Please Please' is a good song, however there is no originality here, which differs Shout Out Louds from the aforementioned Swedes. 'Please Please Please' has the high quick riffing and a plodding beat that is up-tempo and inoffensive.
Let's take nothing away from Shout Out Louds though, as they have had successful support slots with the likes of The Magic Numbers, The Futureheads and The Kings Of Leon, not to mention rave reviews for their critically acclaimed debut album 'Howl Howl Gaff Gaff', however for me it's just a little bit of the same...
