Brimming With Electro Gems
"Hello, hello, my name is Warren Suicide", hisses the malicious introduction to 'The Hello'. An electronic mixture of menacing rhythm and spitting vocals; it's a powerful introduction to these expert manufacturers of post-industrial, brittle techo-rock.
'Fulford' culminates in a pounding melange of breakneck drumbeats, loony vocals and stirring guitars, which cut in half way through the track, lunging and leering at the listener. The vocals break out and take the lead on 'We're Adjusting Ourselves' and 'Signal'. The former features chorus full of quirky vocal cries, which lighten up the more goth-like verses, while 'Signal' sports fragile female vocals soaring above the electric soundscape. 'I Know You' takes an off kilter check on which side of the good/evil divide Warren Suicide's frenetic sounds rest on, with bright breezy vocals and jazzy vibes meeting the spacey, conspiring electro buzzes and dissonance.
'All In One' starts things at a slower pace with hypnotic beeps and bleeps gradually meeting wild, metallic guitar machinations. 'Butcher Boy' takes a gritty electro look at religion before mellowing out with bubblegum-pop female sighs. With tracks like this lasting over 5 minutes, Warren Suicide have plenty of time to lure you into their experimental, ever-changing grip.
'Blow Out The Sun' has the makings of a musing indie track, with overlapping pensive vocals bubbling away, however the constant flood of creative percussion in the background prevents it from growing stale and adds that Warren Suicide edge. 'Yer Blues' takes up the role of rousing the audience from the thought of indie, as its distorted but defiant vocals call and rock n'roll guitars crash away at a heady pace. 'Addiction' closes the album with a more traditional techno feel; drumbeats popping and monotone vocals working their thing on the listener.
'The Hello' is a fabulous introduction to Warren Suicide's vast range of creative electronic sounds fusing a wide range of sources and styles to create an album that's brimming with excitement.
