Elin Ruth - When It Comes To You
Sweden's fastest rising singer-songwriter, Elin Ruth is about to release her self-titled debut album, she already has two Grammy nominations under her belt and is set to take the UK by storm, but before that she introduces herself to the UK with the release "When It Comes To You"
"When It Comes To You" is pure power pop, this has been chosen as the first single release and it seems like a good way to introduce her to the UK. This folky-pop number is extremely catchy and radio friendly and is bound to get lots of airplay.
All the songs on this release are a mix of rock, pop, country and folk and are all pleasant on the ear, they put my very much in mind of KT Tunstall, Katy Rose and at times Sheryl Crow. "Claudia" and "Porcelain" have a more acoustic feel to them, tingled with a kind of sadness, which really allow Elin Ruth to show off her voice. Not to mention the fact that this girl didn't learn to play guitar until she was eighteen, now her she is strumming away on her debut single and album.
I just hope that record companies let Erin stick to what she's good at, which is what we have seen here, and not use the fact that she's young, blonde and attractive to market records and turn her into another pop princess, because it really isn't needed.
