Round Two

Back in 2004 Chikinki seemed to have it made. Signed to Island Records and with the music media fawning over them, Chikinki were set to be 'the next big thing' but it seemed the transition from indie to mainstream was not to be. You see the so called problem with Chikinki is that they refused to stick to one genre, to conform for the sake of pleasing everyone and as such their mix of indie rock simply couldn't cross over. Two years later though and maybe the world is now ready for Chikinki and their two keyboard players.

'You Said' is of course drenched in synths providing an infectiously upbeat hook that demands to be played at the local indie disco. But that's not the full Chikinki story. A dirty bass line weaves its way amongst the Kings Of Leon-esque vocals of lead singer Rupert Browne, insuring that 'You Said' is a song you can also rock out to and further showing how far from being one dimensional Chikinki really are.
