Pleasant Airy Indie-Pop

Easygoing folk vibes rock you into a laidback world of dreamy acoustic guitars that stroke your senses and sighing vocals, which relax you infinitely - this is the world of Shack's 'Tie Me Down'. Eventually a little bright brass and some sweet lead guitar work gives the whole tune a little sparkle before returning to the mellifluous river of eternal ease and pleasure. It sounds very much like it should be the soundtrack to a charming mobile phone advert where the world glows golden; a little sickly but a welcome break from reality and a perfectly serviceable tune.

The B-side ' Uncle Smaegel's Cardigan' has a bit more oomph about it but remains, as the title suggests, to sound like a small town hymn to the simple things in life accompanied by the natural blossoming optimism, which trickles from every instrument. The word "pleasant" can be as much of a criticism as a compliment, and on this single it's hard to tell which side of the line it falls on, but you can do far worse than getting a copy and judging for yourself.
