Sticking To The Formula

Back in 2004, Broken Dolls looked to be on the road to musical stardom. Having won Radio One's competition for new bands, performing at Glastonbury festival and faced with a five album record deal, Broken Dolls certainly seemed to be blazing a trail out of their native Coventry. Fast forward two years and everything still seems on course for the band, if at somewhat of a slower pace than two years ago and as such it's only fitting that a new single release should take the stage.

Encompassing The Dolls usual blend of electronica drizzled with a hint of rock, 'Peaches' strays little from the band's tried and tested formula. With military like drumming weaving amongst disco beats, 'Peaches' provides a blend of everything in one which works to some extent. Unfortunately though you can't escape the feeling that the single is lacking an essential component to make it stand out from the ever growing indie rock crowd. Never seeming to actually take off, 'Peaches' ebbs along at an enjoyable pace but that's basically all it is. In the end the Broken Dolls latest offering is simply an enjoyable little ditty that will liven up your day but probably won't rock your world.
