It's the turn of the slow, reflective Pink track.
Pink eh?
As Winston Churchill may have put it, "shes an enigma wrapped inside a puzzle trapped inside a marketing mans dream." If she is not making a career slating the Britneys, Christinas and Lyndsey Lohans for trading on their looks and enhanced features, she is tarting about in her skimpies for her own videos and collaborations. However, that's alright as she means it ironically, Pink doesn't need to flaunt herself to make a career, Pink merely flaunts herself to make a point about other girls flaunting themselves. So that's alright then, good for her.
The previous single from Pink's latest album was a ballsy rocky track which found her in a caustic mood, firing broadsides at all and sundry. It is therefore no great surprise that this track is a more downbeat and reflective song, showcasing the more caring and wholesome side of Pinks nature.
The track sounds like a Kelly Clarkson cast-off (the start of the track clearly wishes it was 'Since You've Been Gone' with a hint of Pulp's 'Babies') but the main body of the track and the vocals fare badly in comparison with Ms. Clarkson.
And that's the problem with Pink. She is a puppet, no more real or credible an act than Girls Aloud or Liberty X, its just that her label tries to trade on a more credible image and employs more alternative songwriters. At least the acts that came through reality TV shows admit what they are and don't try to con people. This isn't an argument sticking up for manufactured acts, its an argument about honesty and morality.
And even more importantly than that, its an argument about having the better songs or the better vocals, and no matter what argument you look at, Pink doesn't fare well at all.
She may have came through a pop show engineered by Simon Cowell and she may be pleasant (publicly) to her rivals and she may actually wear clothes that cover herself up but Kelly Clarkson is by far a more proper and serious artist than Pink ever could be.
And for that reason alone, this latest offering should by Pink should be swiftly ignored but don't worry, she will be back soon enough with another crazy upbeat song showing the world she kicks backside and doesn't need to take her clothes off to do it. With an accompanying video featuring Pink with her clothes off...but she'll wear a wig, so its not really her.
If you like Pink, then you'll like this track and that's all that matters. Just don't like her because her record company makes you think that its okay to like her and not other acts, as there isn't that much of a difference.
