Bedsit Anthem

By the artist name alone you could be forgiven for thinking that this record comes from the warmer climes of Italy, in fact the Nutini family has been resident in Paisley in Scotland for four generations. Bit of useless information fact fans, his great grandfather opened a chippy there which the family still runs to this day.

Paolo quit school to tour the UK as a roady for a friends band, and with fifties rock n' roll and a love of John Martin in his head, found himself living the bedsit lifestyle in London, at time which is the inspiration for 'These Streets'.

Leaving home at a young age and up rooting to new surroundings can be a tough and lonely experience, as many first year uni students will confirm. Moving to London and slumming it is daunting at the best of times, when you're hardly out of school it can be nothing if not character building. This melodic and catchy acoustic track has a lonely feel to it, as Nutini writes about places from his home. It's the sort of song which, if listened to at the wrong moment could get you down, but of all the singer song-writer singles which have been released in recent times, this is up there with the best.

'These Streets' is his debut single, and is released as a download on May 30th via Atlantic Records, his debut album will follow in July. He plays the Wireless Festival in London on June 24th, and T in the Park on July 9th.
