Hard rocking vibes from a hard rocking band.

Regular readers of Room Thirteen will be aware of the rise of Lunar Mile and this handy mini release should bring everyone up to speed on the sounds that they have been blasting out up and down the country.

Opener '4am' kicks off at break-neck speed and the guitar chugs and revs ferociously in the background, continually throbbing away with the key lead lines bringing to mind classic rock riffs from the seventies and eighties.
One of the key factors in Lunar Miles early crossover is the melodic vocals of Toni-Marie. With the background and hard work of the band it should be expected that there will be talent to spare but the vocals do shine and indicate a very strong performer. Changes of tempo or range flow as easily as the bass lines and the vocals are a key instrument as much as the rest of the parts.

'Get Over Yourself' rings around like claxon sirens ringing and the feeling of edginess and even slight paranoia pervades the song. Darker and more menacing to the other songs, the variances in the tracks keeps the listener engrossed enough and offer up something to different fans.

The drums get their moment of note on 'I Know' with the sprightly opener crashing to life as the rest of the song spirals upwards and plateaus in the chorus.

With a bonus acoustic version of 'Stay' drawing the release to a close, it's a welcome introduction to a band, which has been performing as much acoustically as electrically of late, as they spread the word. With shuffling bongo backing and the backing vocals meshing well with the slow rhythm and vocals, it's a pleasing end to a short record.

Although still very early on in their career, Lunar Mile offer enough promise and potential to carve a name out for themselves, so you may as well get on board with this release.
