Shimmering Electronica
Modern fast-paced rock with a retro electro twist, "Heart=Weapon" is a strong and fascinating album which transports you to a sparkling world full of songs which light up the world like fireworks.
'Mission Bell' is an agitated fusion of grinding guitar rock and an eighties electronic infectious tune with plenty of energy and excitement. 'Signs of Life' disintegrates into a robotic synth beat with the glittery, sharp guitars reminiscent of Scandinavian wonders The Ark, the echoing vocals certainly have a bright, retro feel.
'The Best Is On The Outside' is more edgy and simplistic constructing its punchy rhythm around an array of kooky synth sounds like an electronic pulse. 'Chemical Burns' then splurges an anxious, paranoid guitar-led tune filled with catchy hooks and compulsive vocal outbursts. 'On The Edge Of Something Beautiful (At 12am)' has a darker edge to it like a nocturnal twang of conscience matching the lyrics; "Every time I try to love you my heart gets in the way at 12am".
Dynamic disco is certainly 'Every Move A Picture's game; 'Outlaw' has a definite dancefloor quality that recalls Interpol's chiming guitars and roaming bass line, while 'Simples Lessons In Love and Secession' smoulders with indie charm and bubbling guitars like a blazing anthem.
'Dixie' has a more epic feel to its instant electric energy, breaking into political territory but losing none of its drive and vigorous verve. Closer 'St. Johns Night' relies more on the rich traditional indie vocals injecting a wave of emotion, which overcomes all the other instrumentation in a rapturous success.
"Heart=Weapon" is a great listen, keeping you interested right up to the end with its frantic tunes and burgeoning electronic energy.
