Ready, steady, go!
Driving, anthemic electro-rock is the order of the day here as the Twilight Singers deliver 'I'm Ready' the latest single to be taken from critically acclaimed fourth album 'Powder Burns'. Pounding beats, crashing piano and distorted guitars wrap themselves around former Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli's voice which is both velvet-y and ever so slightly menacing at the same time on this dark ode to love. The Twilight Singers may have started out as little more than a vanity project between A.W. albums in 1997 but almost a decade on they'd give the likes of Primal Scream, Death From Above 1979 and Garbage a run for their money such is the quality of this track.
The Lo-Fidelity Allstars deliver a suitably funked up re-working on the even better flip-side remix, spacing out the individual elements of the original and cranking up the beats while focussing on a particularly infectious bass guitar riff. If the band's new album is half as good as this then we'll all be in for a treat.
