Ice, ice, baby

'We Share Our Mothers' Health' the new single from The Knife is so icy cool that I feel like taking a bath in it, given the current heat-wave enveloping the country. Everyone's favourite electronica duo are back again with a de-constructed pop master-piece to slay you all.

Bouncy, vaguely eighties-ish looped synth patterns jump around to a pulsating beat while Karin Dreijer sings in that oddly compelling style only she can get away with (a kind of scary but seductive Scandinavian vamp for the uninitiated). If the 'A' side album version is not enough to convince you to part with your hard earned bucks then surely the raft of ace accompanying mixes will. Trentmoller's Red Bull addled mix kicks out the jams at twice the speed to frightening effect while Ratatat goes for the softly, softly approach with his downbeat, stripped back take on things.

So whether you want to vogue it up at the local electro disco, chill out with an ice cold alcoholic drink or bop along to something insanely catchy on your iPod on the way to work then this is the single for you in summer '06.
