Rob McCulloch Single Review

Rob McCulloch delivers easy on the ear indie-rock with a very British sound, reminiscent of a band like Echo and The Bunnymen or perhaps a quieter Oasis. The title track of this single has a richer sound than you might expect from your average singer-songwriter fare. Mainly because it's more guitar heavy and also because it has a really melodic tune with a catchy and easy to learn, sing along chorus that sticks in your head after you've heard it.

The single as a whole is not particularly special or exciting, but the tunes do have a certain gentle charm, because even though McCulloch's music has a familiar sound, he definitely has a noise of his own; driven primarily by his distinctive and powerful voice which has a very mature tone for a twenty year old. But also his music is aided by the quietly assured quality of the songwriting that sounds, already, like he's been doing it for years. No doubt he will go from strength to strength.
