Moneen Single Review
This download only single is taken from the new Moneen album The Red Tree. It's one of the poppier tracks, but it's still a good example of the tunes on that album, which heralds the start of a new sound for the band. They still have stop/start quirky riffs, catchy tunes and a warm and emotionally packed sound but as this single attests, they have roughed up their sugary sweet edges. There is a more mature lyrical edge to this song than their previous releases and it has an epic quality to go with the catchy hook laden tune and the heavy riffs.
'If Tragedy Is Appealing, Then Disaster's An Addiction' combines perfectly the aspects of their older more carefree material with their new more experience driven sound and it's a really good combination that means this single is easy on the ear, knows how to rock but also has a more introspective feel that has very obviously come from their experiences and creates something more lasting that singles them out from the crowd.
