Energetic Indie
A bright guitar tune, 'Get Out' is a radio-friendly slice of energetic rock. It begins with a picked intro before the guitars begin to blaze in earnest, unfortunately although it oozes energy, the tune never seems to develop to a particularly strong crescendo and the chorus is catchy but a little too mellow to really stick. The acoustic version sounds a little lacking and is surely not appropriate when the song is meant to convey cut-loose punk emotions, "Get out of my face/ Get out of my brain", singing this as an acoustic ode is a bit like The Sex Pistols writing a ballad.
B side 'Strange Honey' lets loose a little more with fierce guitar work and has a definite spark with snarling vocals really blistering the solid bassline and skittering percussion. The Fondas can create great tunes, but whether they have the oomph to make themselves more than just another indie rock band remains to be seen.
