Get Yourself Into It...

The Rapture's transformation from gloomy Cure influenced post-punkers into the best disco guitar group in the world nears completion on 'Get Myself Into It' the opening cut from their eagerly anticipated new album 'Pieces Of The People We Love'. More infectious than something very infectious indeed 'G.M.I.I' struts its way across the dance-floor like Travolta in Grease, thrusting its hips with gleeful abandon to clipped guitars and James Black-esque sax squeals.

The key here though is the rhythm section who pull out all the stops to make you move your feet. The drums swing and Matt Safer's deep bass line pulses menacingly while some good old fashioned cowbell percussion provides the piece de resistance. Luke Jenner puts in a constrained vocal performance this time (there's less of his characteristic, Robert Smith styled vocal yelping) and even the most seasoned critic would be hard pushed to argue against this single being the best thing the New Yorkers have come up with since 'House Of Jealous Lovers'. If you don't find your feet involuntarily moving to the groove when you next hear this song then you're somehow walking around without a pulse. Awesome.
