Comeback single from Badly Drawn Boy

Things have been quiet on the Badly Drawn Boy front lately and here's why. About to release his new single 'Nothings Going to Change Your Mind', BDB is also about to embark on a fanclub only tour to be followed by the release of his fifth album 'Born in the UK', available from October 16th.

It seems that after his initial hype Badly Drawn Boy's public persona has quietly receded, leaving him able to record music and tour with little fanfare. This return single illustrates why BDB is still in a strong position on the eve of his fifth album. A slow piano-led song with heartfelt, highly emotive vocals, this shows similar sensitivity to the songs penned for the 'About A Boy' soundtrack. The song features sumptuous strings, matching the reflective and sorrowful mood of the song perfectly. Here Badly Drawn Boy's voice seems tinged with sadness as he performs a song of defeat, with lyrics revolving around the end of a relationship.

A mature and elegant addition to the break up cannon, this song is a great reminder of what Badly Drawn Boy is so good at, writing simple but expressive songs. Already this song is firmly lodged in my mind, and has a snug familiarity that doesn't always come easily. A triumphant return and a great precursor for the forthcoming album.
