Misjudged books and covers

After a barrel load of radio play, a fistful of festival appearances and some high profile TV work, It all seems to have taken off for Mr Nutini of late with his debut single and album both giving him top five successes.

I took one look at Paolo Nutini and I expected his music to be awful, a barrage of whining, miserable, indie pap but just to prove that first impressions can be wrong Paolo Nutini surprised me! Well alright there are some expected elements, the vocals for instance are very in vogue for any crop of mop haired indie bands but this follow up to 'Last Request' isn't a bad song. It has a decent beat and it doesn't wallow in misery or try to be the sunshine song that will lift your gloom. It's just a good up tempo, fairly simple but effective indie rock tune.

Hailing from Scotland, the main riff hints at his roots with a distinct folk vibe and although there isn't a great deal of progression within the song structure, it is rather infectious. I think you can expect to hear plenty more from Paolo Nutini and on the strength of this, why not?
