Wailing Ferocious Rock - Welcome Back!

Stuttering erratically before being intercepted with the yelp of primeval like vocals, 'System Overload' wails around ferociously with the vicious energy we've come to expect from The Datsuns. Strands of Zeppelin-influenced rock roll around with the rowdy rattle of garage rock in the same league as The Hives, as 'System Overload' shrieks and pounds in its nicely packaged two and a half minutes of menacing guitars, glam metal and uncontrollable guitar solos. It is what The Datsuns are all about and hopefully what will endear them to music lovers' ears once more.

Previewing their forthcoming album, the New Zealand quartet also showcase some new tunes on this single release. Wearing their Stetsons with pride and heading down the country blues trail, 'Don't Shine Your Light On Me' captures the band in a new light, one that differs slightly from their squealing rock but is just as enjoyable. Dolf's wails give way to a gruff melancholically tinged country ballad that is similar to The Raconteurs and should ensure lighters are raised in pride at future gigs. Meanwhile, 'Killer Bees' returns to the tried and tested Datsuns method only with extra emphasis on the glam metal as vicious guitar riffs screech past in a haze of howling vocals and a flash of frenzy. Somehow it just doesn't seem fitting that a band that totes this much rock should share their name with a humble family car.
