Good But Not Innovative
Take a former VJ and all round rock chick, Abby Gennet and put her in a band with three other rock n roll reprobates and you've got New York's very own hard rocking Slunt.
Taking their cues from vintage rock bands like AC/DC and Thin Lizzy, Slunt are a no frills, straight up rock n roll band. Opener 'When You Like It' kicks off the album in true rocking style. 'Mr One Night Stand' has a Velvet Revolver groove that drips with sex appeal courtesy of singer Abby Gennet. Plus a rip roaring solo from former Gaggle of Cocks guitarist Pat Harrington adds a little extra gusto to the song. 'Absinthe In Munich' is the epitome of the alcohol fuelled good times albeit not the strongest song on the album.
Despite it being raw rock n roll record it sounds more of less what the Donnas do already and if you're after something innovative you're in the wrong place. It's a gutsy, ballsy and unabashed album but to be honest it's all be done before.
