Who else uses the term bloody better?

The recent headline grabbing comments suggesting that Graham Coxon thinks he is better than Blur would surely have nothing to do with any single releases, or more cynically, to draw attention away from an ex-band mate's new act would it? Of course not, so we may as well continue with the review of Graham Coxon's new single 'What Ya Gonna Do Now?'

Fans of the guitarist don't need to fret about the new material as it lives up to the same standard and template as his last two offerings, making him a very credible solo artist in his own right. 'What Ya Gonna Do Now?' is another zippy fast guitar track over which Coxon intones his sardonic sneer and questioning manner. The most noticeable thing about the song is the blatant steal from The Ramones, which indicates the American punk and rock influence which spikes out from Coxons solo material.

Double A-side 'Bloody Annoying' follows the same musical path and is right up in the listeners face, sounding angry and busy. No one mixes thrashy guitars and a downright Englishness of language as much as Coxon. How many other bands would be using the term bloody to signify their annoyance and frame of mind?

It's the little quirks that all come together to make up the solo work of Graham Coxon and this release keeps him on the same road he has been enjoying of late. Good work again Graham.
