A Welcome Breath Of Nostalgic Air
With a name like Murder By Death it would be all too easy to dismiss the American quartet as a band pummelling their drum kit, wailing their guitars and letting rip with full on vocals. One listen of their latest single, 'Boy Decide' soon challenges this theory however, replacing such misplaced stereotypes with images of a band that like to lace their rock and roll in a layer of darkness, creating a mood and tone that is a little unnerving but undeniably catchy.
Part rock and roll, part folk dance, part trip into the old American west, 'Boy Decide' offers an interesting blend that is sure to intrigue and entertain. Kicking off with an enticing drum beat, 'Boy Decide' soon delivers ironic lyrics curtsey of Adam Turla's deep and brooding vocals that weave amongst sounds that could have originated from an old west saloon and bring with them a dash of gothic vaudeville. At a time of obsessed scene chasers, Murder By Death are a welcome breath of fresh nostalgic air. They are unlike anything you'll hear and although not as digestible as the latest pop punk emo number that blasts from your radio, these guys won't leave you feeling dirty, cheap and used.
