It's Because ... It Makes You Feel Good.
Tunng's press release describes them as "folktronica", an irresistibly playful term that puts the six piece's sound in a nutshell in the best possible way. 'It's Because ... We've Got Hair' is the third single release from the group's second album 'Comments On The Inner Chorus', released at the end of a UK "wide" tour (that sadly only made one Scottish stop and missed Wales altogether). Mention must be made of the single's gorgeous artwork by Vanessa de Silva, a pencil drawing in beautiful autumnal shades that will brighten your mood before you have even heard the song.
Tunng drape vocal sections over a mixture of drums, acoustic guitars and electronic effects, combining a light and accessible melody with interesting noises and quirks. Lyrically, 'It's Because... We've Got Hair' will appeal to anyone with hippy leanings, with references to the light of full moon, riding on through the fields and being "founded by the sons of our children". Both a radio edit and the album version are included on the single release, disappointingly there isn't much difference between them and perhaps a B-side would have been a better addition. This is a very pleasant, chilled-out single nevertheless, and certainly worth a listen (or ten).
