Average single from Fields.
After touring with the likes of iForward Russia! and Wolfmother and releasing two well received singles, Fields return with 'If You Fail We All Fail'. Beginning with a rather lengthy intro, the song then progresses amiably but has little staying power. The prescribed changes in speed are tired and the relaxed vocals do nothing beyond making the delivery seem passionless. For a band with a lot of good press who are yet to even release a debut album, I expected much more. The interesting title is the most innovative ingredient here, and with only a radio edit and an original version present, I can do little but judge this effort by the one song included. My verdict? I'm looking for something with a lot more edge to get me through these winter months, and as yet the standard indie fare of Fields fails to make a distinction.
