Funky Indie
'Jumping The Great White' is a pleasant surprise from a fresh, young band. Spasmodic bursts of indie guitars rage on the brink of control, while the vocals are cool and laidback, building to a crescendo of deep murmuring chants. My Luminaries manage to harness some classic indie riffs, without being too generic or dull; kooky synth sounds and a fabulous rhythm keep the listener glued to their stereo.
B-side 'Petrol Station Union Jacks' is a pensive number that muses over twinkling guitars and slow-building percussion. It has an air of Killers' stripped down new style to it, with vocals that have a sense of profundity and strength lilting over shimmering guitars. My Luminaries have a charming sound that easily captures the imagination and this single is an energetic taste of what this band can do.
