Second single from Matthew's excellent album.
After first hearing Scott Matthews a few months ago I was pleasantly relieved to discover good artists can come from the same roots as my own. Whilst I'm sure there are many who would claim the Midlands as a region has bourn the fruit of many good bands, I would struggle to agree, and often find local music both tired and cringe worthy.
Scott Matthews, however is something different entirely. For once the Jeff Buckley comparisons are deserved, and Scott's soulful voice often strikes a similar chord to the great Buckley Junior's, as does the rich sound. Beginning with an India-flavoured intro and featuring mystical lyrics about dreaming; the song has the feel of something from a different era. Without being dated the 'Dream Song' sounds matured enough to be several decades old, in much the same way as contemporary artists like Ray Lamontagne and M Ward sound timeless. From Scott Matthews you can anticipate great things, and if 'Dream Songs' appeals you should certainly invest in his peerless debut album 'Passing Stranger'.
