Entry Denied
Ok, here's yet another story to file under the 'mad world' category. On attempting to gain entry into the UK to do a nine date tour, American band Soular found their guitarist Brian Lee denied entry. No, Mr Lee had not fallen foul of any traditional rock star pitfalls and attempted to bring an illegal substance into the country and he holds no threat as a terrorist. So, what was his misdemeanour? Well, it would seem the Soular guitarist didn't have a return ticket to the US on him at the time (the ticket in question was with another band member whom security refused to allow back to return the mischievous ticket). Ticketless he was seen as trying to seek work illegally in the UK and sent packing, the result being the band had to cancel their tour. So what do all good rock bands do in response to such actions? Why they pent their frustrations out into a song. With a somewhat tongue in cheek title, 'Faking A Gun' is Soular's rant at Heathrow airport's immigration officials, although a some what subdued protest. More a symbol of dissent akin to a Dylan track than a Green Day American Idiot rant, 'Faking A Gun' is a pleasant track that sways along comfortably before building to a lighters in the air guitar solo moment at the end. More likely to have immigration officials breaking out in a full blown sing along than quaking in their boots.
