A Welcome Exception To The Rule

Like an unwritten rule it is widely assumed that actors who attempt to step into the rock star limelight are destined to fail horrendously. With the history of music littered with fatalities of those who naively believed they could prop up their egos by brandishing a guitar, its little wonder that Hollywood star Jared Leto's voyage into music has been met with the same lukewarm reception with 30 Seconds To Mars being undeservedly dismissed as a mere side project from some quarters. But as always there is an exception to the rule and 30 Seconds To Mars seem only happy to fill the niche and with stateside success under their belt, it's now time for them to unleash their angst fuelled rock on the UK.

After an ominous synth sinisterly heralds the start, 'Attack' builds to a near anthemic wail of frantic guitars that interlock perfectly with Leto's vocals as he menacingly whispers lyrics before breaking into full blown tormented yells doused in pure passion and angst that actually make your own vocal chords throb in sympathy. Brutally raw, 'Attack' offers a colossal bombardment of fast guitars, whirling electronics and emotionally laced lyrics topped with the pulsating energy of Leto's intense vocals that writhe in desperation, all culminating effortlessly to prove that 30 Seconds To Mars are a welcome exception to the rule.
