Electro Pop A-Go-Go
Blondie on ice with a crisp cut of electro, The Sounds have already reached cult status on the continent with this EP testament to the fact that the 80's are back and the UK is about to be conquered by the siren-like synth beats of Maja and co.
'Tony The Beat' is a toe tapping 3-minute blaze of twinkling beats and catchy blasts of icy vocals, while a punk element comes through on 'Queen of Apology'; a guitar-led pop tune with teenage energy bursting from its tight tune and chugging riffs.
'Rock n'Roll' sees Maja cooing over a glassy soundtrack, "It seems that love can no longer turn me on"; it's a gorgeous chrome-covered pop tune with darker undertones about the perils of rock n'roll, but really all these warnings do is seduce you into the slick, dreamy beat. If this mixture of sugary pop and whiplash beats doesn't get you moving then Maja's lipgloss coated vocals definitely will. These lush pop vocals are stretched over a taught beat in the shimmering, 'Mine For Life' with plenty of synth solo time to keep you guessing.
The perfect lithe mix of electronica and passionate pop, The Sounds have got their sound just right, it may have been a long time coming but their album, 'Dying To Say This To You' will finally reach the UK this March and it's well worth taking a giddy whirl with Maja and friends in your CD player.
