Tea time champs or chumps?
Taken from their debut album 'Bend to the Breaks', 'Skin Deep' is the latest single from hotly tipped New York outfit Five O'clock Heroes.
Residing comfortably in the indie rock camp it's soon apparent that the sing along chorus aside there's not a lot going on in 'Skin Deep', the vocals lack definition whereas the tune is a simple three chord affair that offers little in the way of excitement. It just doesn't go anywhere but it trundles along and the big chorus may have enough about it to gain some attention.
'Skin Deep' is backed by the acoustic 'Every Night, All Night Long' and it's a case of more of the same really. It's another three chord affair and although the vocals are better suited to this kind of arrangement there's just nothing to make this song or indeed the band stand out.
