Ska faced lies!
Milton Keynes band Capdown, release the Hard Rockin Ska of 'Surviving The Death Of Genre' which is a gentle plod of a song from a genre that at times can sound a little dated, however here it has a twist of Pop/Punk melody that gives enough freshness to remain interesting. It is of course a nod at this, that the title and content of the song surrounds.
Capdown have always been a band that don't take life too seriously and with the b-side, 'Trick Me' which is a shameless cover of wild-haired Kalis' song, they show just that. It's done very well, and dare I say it sounding even better than the original with plenty of brass and none of the computer generated sounds, it shows how you can take a dancehall pop track and give it some soul.
They've been away for a while, but it's good to see them back!
