Help the aged

R13 is perplexed. Love Is All's vibrant debut album (Nine Times That Same Song) was stuffed to the rafters with potential indie hit singles so why have the band/Parlophone(?) taken the rather odd decision to release a rather mediocre Pastels cover ("Nothing To Be Done") as their new single?

It may be a rare, ill conceived move by our favourite Swedes but we can forgive the band any oversight for unleashing "Ageing Had Never Been His Friend" as its double 'A' side cousin. "Ageing..." one of several absolute belters on their criminally overlooked debut still sounds vibrant and damn near perfect after the umpteenth listen. A sixties garage pop classic spun through an indie pop cycle and injected with a healthy smattering of sax it gleefully bounces around like an over-excited teen after one too many alco-pops. It's a future punk-funk classic of that much we are certain.
