Don't Get Up

It seems like Silver Sun have been around for a long, long time, some would say far too long. 'Fallen' is the first single from their fourth album 'Dad's Weird Dream'.

Our old friend the press release has 'Fallen' described as being "like the Beach Boys on speed", if that's the case then I suggest they change their dealer as I suspect he's chopping it up with Ajax. To be fair they freely admit that this is bubblegum power pop and that's exactly what it is. It's all very jolly and happy with delightful harmonies and a hint of theremin in the background. The problem is that it's also devoid of any real substance, this is a throwaway summer single that whilst nice enough for a couple of listens is unlikely to have you constantly pressing the repeat button.

The rest of the tracks on the single continue in similar vein but are not as catchy and the second track 'See Me in my Dreams' is truly awful. 'Immediate' is slightly more interesting and has a little more depth to it (but not much!). Released as a download only EP it wouldn't be surprising if this gained little attention outside of their immediate fan base.
