The Church Of Hot Addiction - it is at least worth a listen
Cobra Starship was created by former Midtown's bassist/lead vocalist Gabe Saporta and is best known in the states for the song 'Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)', a track that featured on the soundtrack to the recent film Snakes On A Plane. They are about to hit the UK with the single, The Church Of Hot Addiction.
Strong guitars and drums open the song, which sounds a little like the beginning of Good Charlotte's 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl'. A slower bridge builds up to a huge chorus that is loud and catchy and has a strong beat. The song may not have the best lyrics you'll hear this year, but the repetition of "my light is electric" followed by "hey hey hey" can't help but be addictive and get you singing along, even if it is not out loud.
To be honest this song sounds like it has been done before. It may have a big chorus, attractive bridge and strong vocals, but in a year when there are so many bands trying to make it in the music industry, this big emo sound is too emotionless, and doesn't really seem to have the ability to compete with the other bands attempting success. Maybe something a little fresher and original is needed for the next single.
