After the success of their debut single 'Worried about Ray' and the more recent release ' Goodbye Mr. A', this CD offers a tastes of what to expect from the coming album, 'the Trick to Life'.
In lyrical terms, 'Run Rabbit Run' explores themes of growing up and coming to terms with what to expect from the rest of your life. What is interesting is the ways in which the band presents the songs. Using "tippy toes" for example in 'Worried about Ray' just makes you want to join in and have a laugh. The tracks have some fairly strange popish sounds with a twist to make them interesting.
The CD may be full of upbeat tracks like 'Worse Case Scenario', but also has the occasional deeper side like in 'Run Rabbit Run' incase you fancy something a little more emotional. It is the guitar that adds that strange yet unique cartoon feels to the tracks here, especially 'Trick to life', which also has some odd and jumpy space sounds. The chimes on 'Worse Case Scenario' add to the effect of course, while 'Goodbye Mr A' has a cartoon style opening, like a TV programme from the 50's.
The vocals from Irwin through the album are very accurate in their pronunciation of the lines making following and understanding them a lot easier. Ok there is the odd helium moment, rising vocals, but this adds to the excellent sound of the band.
The band has done wonders with these five tracks, and if the album has more of these great tracks, it is a sure fire hit.
