Emotive Guitar-Based Pop
Oxford based 5 piece This Town Needs Guns release their latest double A side single. They play gentle, emotive guitar and piano based pop songs, in a similar vein to Dashboard Confessional only seemingly more mature in sound. 'And I'll Tell You Why' begins with a pretty arpeggio led intro and rises to an almost eerie climax. 'Wanna Come Back To My Room And Listen To Belle And Sebastian' is a glorious mix of suble time changes and dynamic contrasts that will pull on heart strings.
The band state one of their influences as Sunny Day Real Estate and here you can see why. They appear to capture the style of music responsible for bringing the original wave of the emo subgenre to a wider audience. They do this in a refreshing manner, with their blend of subtley mature pop songs.
This band has promise.
