Definite Talent

Johnossi are two Swedes who know how to rock n'roll, their songs explode with abandoned energy and plenty of pure rock grit that ensures you'll be humming along hours later. Title track, 'Execution Song' starts with blistering bursts of guitar and the blazing lyrics, "Well I'm not your baby no more" before jangly riffs kick in; this fair have definitely got a fire inside. One of the bands most unique points is the fact that John plays an acoustic guitar through 2 amps and a number of effects, this is probably most striking live however, on record the guitarwork comes across as bold and raging, but the tone isn't noticeably different to that of an electric guitar, although often smothered in layers of effects. 'Glory Days To Come' of course instantly brings to mind the Clash's song of a similar name, and yes, there is some of that unbridled energy about these guitar-driven songs with chunky riffs and hip-shaking percussion.

'The Lottery' is a more downbeat number, the slow crisp percussion setting the languid rhythm before a blustery echoing guitar solo rings out, there's an intimate tone to John's soft vocals on this number. Showing us their whole range the last track, 'From People's Hearts' is a rapid-paced acoustic number with a storytelling tone about its speeding vocals, it's the kind of number that gets hands instantly clapping as a crowd are swept away by the unfolding tale told through impassioned vocals that break into impromptu "wooh"s every now and again to add a genuine country twang.

If you like your rock with plenty of brash roll, look no further than this clearly very talented band.
