A Little Lost In Siberia
The second release from an album that saw Charlotte Hatherley's much more heavily involved in the production of the tunes, 'Siberia' is a cool and complex tune that manages to effortlessly blend a handful of styles into one slick pop tune. Unfortunately this means that you could hardly describe 'Siberia' as catchy as the melody is more of a mellifluous stream that floats over you, never quite settling into your head. Sighing synths, kooky vocals and far out guitars add to the dreamy feel, although after an electro break down there is a more tangible, grungey sound emerging. While Charlotte Hatherley is a wonderful performer, I can't help but feel that this tune will pass most people by; it's simply not memorable enough to be a single and the cute, quirkiness simply doesn't make up for this.
