Death By Numbers
'Get Through This' is the first single to be lifted from Canadian rockers Art of Dying's debut album. We first came these guys when they supported Seether on their UK tour last year, they were OK and went on to do a well received set at Download but I confess I'd forgotten about them until 'Get Through This' landed on the doormat.
Taken from their debut album this is a pretty solid rock tune with some heavier moments. The vocals of Jonny Hetherington are strong and clean and the production is great, with the guitars in particular sounding good and meaty. It's eminently danceable and it does have the requisite big chorus so should do well on the rock club scene. If there's a problem with Art of Dying it's that despite being very good at what they do, they don't do anything out of the ordinary or particularly exciting and vibrant. Having said that, they do it so well that you'd expect them to keep their heads above the sea of average rock bands out there that are peddling similar fare. Not a bad start and they've laid some firm blocks on which to build.
