Maxïmo Park have delivering what they do best .

Maxïmo Park shot onto the music scene amid a wave of similar post-punk indie bands with their debut album 'A Certain Trigger' in May 2005. Tracks such as 'Apply Some Pressure' and 'Graffiti' achieved Top 20 status in the singles chart and the album itself was frequently cited as one of the best British releases of the year, even being nominated for a Mercury music prize. 'Books From Boxes' follows 'Our Velocity' as the second single release from the band's follow-up album, 2007's 'Our Earthly Pleasures'.

Like the vast majority of Maxïmo Park songs, 'Books From Boxes' is characterised by rhythmic bass and a sparsely composed verse that leads into a high energy bridge. 'Books From Boxes' isn't as bouncy as tracks such as 'Apply Some Pressure' but still lies firmly in the same energetic indie sub-genre as the Kaiser Chiefs and Artic Mokeys. Lyrically, the track is cleverly put together, telling of a relationship "not built to last" by employing images such as "Night falls / And towns become circuit boards" and "scattered polaroids and sprinkled words around your collar".

In 'Books From Boxes', Maxïmo Park have delivered what they do best - a catchy tune with enough guitar to appeal to the rock crowd, enough catchiness to ensnare the pop fans and lyrics intruiging enough to please the indie contingent. In pleasing everyone a little it is however unlikely to please anyone fully - tough as it is to fault this track it's equally impossible to herald it as a masterpiece.
