Country rockers turn into Glam-stompers.

Just when you think you get to know a band, they sometimes take a complete turn-around on you. The Broken Family Band bounded into view last year with 'Balls', an album that slotted nicely into the world of alt.county with its swooning melodies and guitar strums. With a pre-conceived image of the band what unfolded when 'Love Your Man, Love Your Woman' entered the CD was quite a shock.

An almost Glam-rock stomp kicked in immediately, akin to The Sweet or heaven forbid, even the Bay City Rollers and it was obvious that the band had changed things about a bit on their new record.

Once the initial shock wore off, things improved dramatically. For all its backline is rooted in the no-brainer mentality of the seventies, theres a distinct progression to the song, building in tension and volume until the chorus is unleashed with a passionate delivery.

And if that's not enough of a shock, theres a remix on the flip-side! It just about manages to work but again, the initial shock value needs to be overcome but after that, its alright. Theres a lot of repetition and electronic stutters but the afore mentioned glam-stomp does lend itself well to make a danceable track and its by no means in the worst category of remixed songs.

So, The Broken Family Band are back but not in any recognisable form. Well, that's not true as this comeback single still has melodies and charm by the bucketload and as long as you're willing to go with the band a bit, then theres a lot of fun to be had here.
