Ghastly.

Nerina Pallot is not a household name yet the thirty-two year old Londoner has been dipping in and out of music for the past six years. Her debut album 'Dear Frustrated Superstar' only reached number 82 in the UK album chart and even the interest of Radio 2's Dermot O'Leary for the tracks 'Patience' and 'Alien' failed to help them achieve higher chart positions than 61 and 82 respectively. Nerina was then dropped from her record label and went on to write and release a second album, 'Fires' independently. The album was released and failed to chart in the UK.

Some people fail to realize when things aren't working out however so in 2006 'Fires' was reissued and elicited a faint whiff of interest, and 'Peg' has been chosen as the fifth single release from it. For a track produced by someone who claims to have shunned the mainstream music business, 'Peg' is a sickeningly heavily pop-influenced track that it is all too easy to imagine a 1990s girl band singing. Over-sugared and relentlessly high-pitched, 'Peg' has all the subtext of a 'Neighbours' episode and the originality to match. Those used to listening only to local commercial radio stations may find it bland enough to forget but listeners with more refined taste will find its fake saccharine flavours sickening.
