Poetic Perfection

Two vocalists meeting at a poetry slam... you know just what you're getting from The Indelicates; cutting lyricism and sparkling social comment are the name of the game, with a firm flourish from the flowing melodies.

'Julia, We Don't Live In The 60's' is an upbeat indie corker that whisks you through its 3 minutes of chirpy whistles and ebullient guitar accompaniment. Far from being the kind of band that moan about their generation, The Indelicates leap up and recall the positive, "We never had it so good, life is sweet", enthuses Simon Indelicate, with a certain possessed enchantment in his voice that you can't help but believe. "Your lips are full and moist, you could be the Pepsi Cola seller", muse the impassioned vocals further. It's simply impossible not to be swept away by this forceful upbeat ditty.

B-side, 'Point Me To The West' is a more reflective tune with simple vocals fluttering over slow and deliberate piano chords. 'Life's a beach that we build, a sandpit that we fill with the old cold sweat of our slavery" sighs the shoegazing tune; this moment when vocals harmonies and stirring strings kick in is one that could make your skin tingle. The rapping snare drum driving the swelling tune along with consummate ease.

Live track, 'Unity Mitford' glitters with excitement, guitars snarling away as Julia takes the microphone, tugging at your heart strings with her soaring calls. Careening with splendour, if neither of the previous tracks have inspired you, then 'Unity Mitford' will surely take your breath away. Keys glisten and cavort with the wandering guitar in this epic rock tune.
