Pretty Indie Pop
Young Glaswegian singer Amy MacDonald picked up her dad's guitar as a teen and, driven by a burning desire to write songs, taught herself to play and plyed her first acoustic gig aged 15; it's an inspiring tale, but does her music match her tenacity?
Amy certainly has a voice that has richness and depth beyond her years and in 'Mr Rock & Roll' she's created a luscious tune that reflects on missed opportunities that surely can't yet have befallen a young woman of her age. "They'll meet one day far away and say I was I knew you before", sighs the singer with unrestrained passion over a delicious backing of jangling guitars and bouncing percussion, it's a great tune that simply races along full of vibrance.
So if Amy the gifted songwriter that we're led to believe? Well it's hard to tell on the evidence of one track, but 'Mr Rock & Roll' could definitely find its way onto the radio alongside the guitar pop of singers like KT Tunstall.
