Subsource - This Town
Subsouce are a new electronica/drum n bass four-piece Dance act. Their techno style has an electronic beat with chaotic punk rock energy. The band is fronted by vocalist and electric bass player Stuart Henshall, on synthis, glitches and electronic percussion is classically trained pianist and techno man Dennis Ng aka 'Borg', multi instrumentalist Paul Frazer goes between guitar, synthis and percussion and lastly there is Neds Shervell's who has some awesome drumming.
The single 'This Town' is the type of song that will make it big in the clubs this summer. It begins with a mysterious opening, followed by some rather decent vocals that at times seem to be altered, but this just adds to the atmosphere. The focus for this track seems to be on the musical sound rather than vocals or lyrics. Three minutes in there is a big build up to what you hope is going to be some relief, but more of the same beats follow.
The five remixes present on the Cd are exactly the same, big dance floor hits just not big with this reviewer. Their remixing skills are becoming very good for their own material, as well as getting their hands on others. Subsource is busy touring the UK at the minute, while putting the finishing touches to their debut album.
