Smith 6079 - Kill Romeo
After being billed as "Manchester's best unsigned band" and "The Ones To Watch" by two different magazines, I had high hopes from 'Kill Romeo' when it dropped through my door.
Smith 6079 have created a gritty yet cleverly crafted number with 'Kill Romeo'. It puts me in mind of Zico Chain but without the punch. The vocal style heard on here has the same dirty yet lovable quality of Chris Glithero's voice and while the guitar riffs and drum work on here are good, the slow pace of the song doesn't make you want to listen to it time and time again. Smith 6079 frontman Moon's vocal style really suits the dark tone set by the instrumental work on this track, but I don't see 'Kill Romeo' having huge commercial success.
It's unusual for a band to release a single of this tempo and it's very brave of Smith 6079 to take on and although I like what they are doing, after visiting their Myspace page it seems 'Kill Romeo' isn't their strongest track. 'Kill Romeo' is a brave and commendable effort from the guys in the Smith 6079 camp.
