Sci-fi dreaming.

There's something slightly creepy about the two offerings from Archangel here. The lead track, 'Physical Energy' is a nervous and jolting number, underpinned by some stabbing squelches and clipped handclaps that gets the heart racing but lyrically, it appears to be an observation of someone who is sleeping by someone who is lying awake beside them. Perhaps it's the natural reaction of this listener to think of the dark side of this, perhaps the lyrics are meant in a touching manner, heck the band are called Archangel, but there's something about the drive of the song that indicates that it is not a touching heartfelt ballad.

The uncomfortable nature continues with 'Drive', with the story of a computer that falls in love with its owner. Ever since science fiction has given us computers and animatronics, there has been continual reference to a hope that one day man and machine will truly unite. The real reason for this is that those who fully bought into the world of machines and increasing technology usually suffered in communication with members of the opposite sex, therefore the thought of falling in love with a machine would be highly pleasing to these people.

Musically, it's cut from the same cloth as the lead song and its pounding speed and energy has a nervous edge through it but even on two songs there seems to be too much similarity between the tracks here to indicate theres anything greater under the surface.
